how long have you been a photographer?
I started taking photos seriously in my early teens, when I was given a box camera by an elderly relative (arthritis had got the better of him). I took my first wedding photos about twenty years ago when friends first started venturing up the aisle. my debut professional wedding was in 1996 why weddings? I just love 'em (and i always cry) where are you based? will you travel? I am based in South East London. I am happy to travel anywhere. I do charge for travel and may need accommodation, depending on the distance from London (and whether I've got any friends in the area!) are you any good? not bad. see what clients say and have a look at some of my images in the portfolio section do you take digital or film? I use a digital SLR camera (near enough equivalent to a 35mm film camera and of equal quality - I turned digital four years ago). I also carry a spare digital camera and various lenses. I try to keep things simple and myself mobile. I'm not hugely into getting all the latest 'kit' do you take colour or black and white? if you have a particular desire, let me know; most couples tend to prefer a mixture, but I am happy to photograph entirely in one or the other. it's easy to covert a colour digital image to back and white do you have an assistant? I don't really need one but if I can I persuade my wife to come along; she guarantees everyone's smiling, and makes sure I don't leave my bag in the vestry
do you bring lighting? generally not (except flash guns for the cameras). my emphasis is on darting around capturing the moment rather than staging a splash for Hello!... if you want to come to my London studio for a formally-lit portrait session, then I would be happy to arrange that how many pictures will you take at the wedding? around 600; it depends on how long the occasion lasts, and how much fun you're all having how long do you stay? it's up to you; I am happy to stay for the entire day, arriving in time to photograph you both as you get ready, and staying until you leave in the evening. this makes for the most complete and satisfying set of pictures. however, it may be that you only want me there for a part of the day (which would be cheaper). i'm flexible do you meet us before the wedding? I'd love to. it's really important to me that we all feel comfortable around one another on the day. it's also a great opportunity to do some relaxed engagement photos if you would like. I can come to you, or we can meet at the venue. I do charge for travel how quickly do we get our photos? I can upload them into a password-protected area of my website within a day or two of the wedding. your prints/album will be ready within 10-14 days of the wedding, which usually coincides with the return from honeymoon
can we look at our pictures on the internet? yes. if you wish, I can upload your photos into a password-protected area of my website. you, your family and friends can then look at them from as early as a day or so after the wedding. it's up to you how do we order reprints? can we do it over the the internet? if you wish, you can order reprints from my website. you (and your family and friends) select the images and sizes you want and pay on-line. your order is printed at a professional lab and the reprints sent direct to you can we arrange reprints ourselves rather than through you? yes. depending on the package you order, you can arrange reprints yourself. I supply high resolution images to you on disk, you make as many reprints as you want through your own chosen lab. See how much? for further details on prices and packages do you keep copyright in the photographs? yes. I own the copyright in all photographs I take, which means I retain full control over subsequent reproduction. it is rare that I would want to reproduce the images myself (save perhaps on my website to publicise my services or as part of a hard-copy portfolio). however, retention of copyright by me means that third parties are unable to reproduce my photos without my consent. in some of my packages I give consent to customers to make their own reprints, usually by providing the images on disk. this does not however mean that I have given away my copyright.
